Richard Lowell Blevins was born in Ohio and holds degrees from Kent State University, the University of Oregon, and the University of Pittsburgh, where he has taught literature and poetry writing since 1978. In addition to his scholarly writing and editing, he has published four books of poetry and many essays. He lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, the literary scholar Martha J. Kohler, and their two daughters.
