Moses Hadas

American, 1900 - 1966

Moses Hadas was born in Atlanta and educated at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He later joined the faculty at Columbia University, where he revolutionized the study of classics by presenting ancient works as worthy of literary criticism in their own right, rather than mere tools for studying grammar and history. In addition to writing and translating dozens of books, he recorded several albums of Latin and Greek works on tape and lectured extensively on broadcast television.
