James Schuyler was a poet of the New York School; he was W. H. Auden’s typist, Fairfield Porter’s housemate and Frank O’Hara’s elegist. Through it all, as a curator at the MoMA and critic for ARTnews, Schuyler wrote prolific and varied art commentary.
