Carl Chiarenza

American, 1935-

Carl Chiarenza was born in Rochester, New York and educated at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Boston University, and Harvard University. He has lectured and taught workshops at over 100 institutions in 33 states since 1966, including Smith College, Cornell University, and the University of Rochester, where he now teaches. His photographs have appeared in over three hundred exhibitions across the country. He has also written numerous essays, a critical biography of Aaron Siskind, and over one hundred photography book reviews for CHOICE magazine.
