Fritz Koch-Gotha

German, 1877-1956

Fritz Koch-Gotha was a graphic artist, designer, illustrator, and writer. After studying at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig and the Art Academy of Karlsruhe, he began working as a freelance illustrator in Berlin. He became known for his humorous illustrations and political cartoons. His popularity led the Nazis to consider hiring him as a propagandist in 1933, but he rejected the offer. Instead, he chose to focus on writing and illustrating children’s books, a pursuit he continued until his death in 1956.
