Douglas Adkins

Douglas Adkins is a Seattle native, sailor, and student of yachting history. He was first introduced to Dorade in the 1979 Swiftsure Race, a tough overnighter out of Victoria, British Columbia. Adkins broke a finger when the ship smashed into another boat, but he was smitten nevertheless. He followed “Dorade” for decades and chronicled the many stages of her life, including many prominent decades racing in the Pacific Northwest.
